Award Buddy works as a Chrome extension and makes requests directly from your browser — using your own airline login session. No data passes through our servers. The results you see are the same ones the airline's own website shows you.

No. Award Buddy never sees your password. It captures a short-lived session token from the airline page — the same kind your browser already uses — and discards it when the session expires. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Award Buddy sends the raw response from the airline's search API to our servers for parsing. The parsed results are then returned and displayed to you. This approach lets us quickly adapt to any changes on the airline's website, keeping your experience reliable and up to date.

Different airlines have varying tolerances for high-volume award search activity. Querying a large number of dates with this tool could get your account flagged, potentially affecting your account access and the miles inside it. We recommend registering a separate mileage account to use with Award Buddy, then completing the actual booking through your main account. We've built in protective measures to reduce the risk of triggering anomaly detection from overly rapid queries. That said, some risk remains — we are unable to assist with account recovery or provide compensation for any account issues arising from the use of Award Buddy.

The calendar reads the airline's own availability calendar, which most airlines update less frequently than their real-time booking engine. Japan Airlines is an exception — their calendar reflects live availability and even shows points required. For all other programs, use Live Search to confirm before booking.

There are a few reasons this can happen. Although Live Search pulls real-time data, award seats are limited — by the time you go to book, someone else may have already claimed them. Airlines can also show "phantom" availability: seats that appear in search results but can't actually be ticketed. We recommend booking as soon as you spot an available seat. If you're using Fast Calendar View, note that most airlines update their calendar periodically rather than in real time — it may not reflect current availability. Click a specific date to run a Live Search and confirm the latest results before booking.

Award Buddy subscriptions are generally non-refundable. If you cancel your plan, you'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period. If you believe you were charged in error, please reach out to our support team within 7 days so we can take a look.

Award Buddy tries to guide you through common issues with on-screen prompts. Typical causes include: an expired airline login session (re-login and try again), triggering the airline's rate-limiting by searching too many dates at once, or a mileage program that requires its search page to stay open while Award Buddy runs. In rare cases, the airline may have updated their website in a way that breaks our parser — this is outside our control, but we fix these as quickly as possible.
